Bell Brothers Nurseries are extremely proud to be a British Grower and believe this should be promoted hence the reason we have started to introduce the Union Jack on our Care-Cards.
Our growers and team are always searching for better varieties to improve habit, flower colour, and flowering times. We also conduct in house trials as well as working with plant breeders from all round the world.
Bell Brothers Nurseries is active in bringing new products exclusively to the market. 2003 saw the first trial of Cyclamen Bellisima which took 8 years of research and development to get to this stage. This premium unique double flowering Cyclamen was launched commercially in 2004.
In 1961, Mr. Haruo Sugimoto, found an abnormal Asplenium in Yaku-Island, (Kagoshima Prefecture). Its leaves had many strong waves with a deep yellowish green colour. He brought it to his greenhouse and tried to propagate it, keeping the feature of its strong waves. For many years he was not successful. However, more than 30 years later (1994), Sugimoto Shiny-en succeeded to fix the waving feature. Another unique feature of the specie is that it is very efficient at converting CO2 to Oxegyn and is regarded as a most efficient air cleaner for the office, classroom, or home. In 2010 Bell Brothers Nurseries undertook a trial to grow Crisp Wave.
We were one of the first growers in the UK to include Petunia Surfina in our production plans. This has proved very successful and has led to millions of sales. We were the first grower to introduce fancy flowering primula. This too has proved successful in the premium primula market. More recently we have designed and brought to the market place a Culinary Herb pack in our Plants to Grow range.
